Sick Kiddo

Makaia got some cute new jammies from her friend Diana this past Saturday. On her first night wearing them, I had to take her to children's hospital in the early a.m. (She has croup!) Poor thing did not feel good at all. I decided she could wear her jammies all day long that day. Mommy + jammies + Elmo make everything better!

Thanksgiving

Had a great time in Fresno for Thanksgiving. Makaia and I both got sick with colds but here are some other highlights:

Posing with Grandma and Grandpa

Giving hugs to Great Grandma. Makaia warmed up to her right away and gave her lots of hugs. She must have a sixth sense that Grandma is amazing :)

John and my Mom doing test shots for the camera timer so we could take family shots.

Getting attacked by the tickle monster (Uncle Kyle)

Dancing with Grandma, Hana, and Elmo

Grabbing Grandpa by the ears at Aunt Heidi's house. This is how he kept Makaia entertained!

In the neighborhood smelling flowers with Grandpa

Pushing her new baby doll in its stroller.

Dancing Queen

She made me nervous with the slipping hazard (coloring book) on the floor, but this video is very representative of her personality lately.

Makaia loves Hana

Ahhh, another hour, another way to torment the doggie. Poor Hana was minding her own business (as usual) and Makaia just couldn't let her be. These pics were simultaneous with me saying "nice pets," "Makaia, leave Hana alone," and "Hana, just go find somewhere to hide!"
Hana is now currently on "vacation" at my parents house. Her Xmas present is a respite from Makaia's death grip on her fur.

new dolls

Makaia got a new Ernie and Elmo doll and she carries them everywhere! To bed, to the store, we don't leave them behind. She also got ahold of Mommy's old cell phone :)

Flashback photos

I saw these old pics on my Mom's camera. I think these are from 13 months old. Can't believe how much she has changed!

Fun Day at the Park

We had such a good time at the park today with our good friends Nikole, Kenedi, and Luke and took some super cute pics. Makaia hasn't seen them in several months so it was interesting to see her reaction to them. She has been such a chatty powerhouse lately but today she was shy and quiet. Where has that personality trait been hidin' for the last couple of months?

This is my fav. picture...all 3 cute kiddos in a swing doin' their own thing.

Makaia and Kenedi

Luke is such a great entertainer!

Another of Makaia's crazy faces...the fish lips...amid her fascination of Luke.

At 2 1/2, Kenedi is a "big girl" and can push the 1 2/2 year old "baby" in the swing. No problemo!

Thanks for all the fun Luke and K! Hopefully, we will have more playdates again soon.

Such a tough life to have a park on the oceanfront.

Funny videos

She has mastered the cell phone!

Makaia "playing"/harrassing the dog. She loves to call out Hana's name. She loves her dog...the dog just isn't a big fan of Makaia! Hana hides from Makaia under the dining table chairs. Makaia thinks it is a fun game so she goes in after her to "hide" with Hana, who ends up growling.

The end of this video is hilarious!

A week of winter weather

We had a week of cold weather so we put on our sweats and new boots. Alas, the weather has since gone back to sunny and warm :)

Pumpkin carving

John's Dad and Stepmom had their annual pumpkin carving dinner the week of Halloween. We traveled up to their place and had a great time. Makaia really enjoyed playing with her cousin, Hudson and Gayle made a yummy dinner. Matt and John's pumpkin were our favorites. John free-handed his and, of course, it turned out awesome (doesn't it always? His artistic skills make us all sick.)

Pumpkin Patch

I like this one!
Or maybe this one?

Ok, Daddy. Get me this one!

Arts and Crafts

Took advantage of naptime one day to make a cute little frame for Makaia's room.

Grandma's are the best

Fresh off our visit from John's Mom, my Mom flew down for a long weekend. We had a blast and we were so sad to see her leave. She took us to an awesome dinner, had a picnic at the harbor, and went shopping. She also participated in Makaia's gym class.

Back to the blog

Just realizing that I haven't "blogged" in over a month! We have been so busy. I got really ill in October (Dr. said it was similar to swine flu.) John had to play Mr. Mom for the first time. I was barely able to speak so I was of no help to him for several days. He did a fantastic job, and I am really proud of him! Makaia gave him a rough time and let him know (through tantrums) that he was NOT Mommy. He did forget to feed her a few snacks but she didn't starve and the house was still standing at the end of the week. ha ha ha. John's Mom was so gracious to come down and help out for a day so John could go to work (he was pretty happy to be going.) Makaia had a lot of fun with Grandma and showed her how she can count to 6. We hope she can come down more often :)

Makaia's My Gym classes are paying off. She has been practicing her skills.......
On the dining room table! Nice.

Big Project

Here is a prime example of biting off more than you can chew! It's still under construction (we still have 2 more chairs to do) but this is the major project I have been working on every day at naptime. Makaia has refused to sleep more than an hour and 15 min. so I am basically racing the clock to get stuff done...taken 4-ever to finish 2 chairs. We bought a plain, white kids table to go with it.

The before shot: Sanded the chairs, cut off the bottoms to make them low enough, painted (3 coats) then painted detail (more coats.)

Next up: John has to paint 2 chairs. One is going to underwater ocean theme, and the 4th chair we are still "discussing" i.e. we don't agree yet.

Grandpa & Grandma's visit to My Gym

Grandma & Grandpa Roux came down to go to My Gym with us a few days ago. Makaia enjoyed showing off her moves and personal fav' (the dolphin swing.)
